Lady Devil bats were hot early as they held off a Science Hill rally in the 5th to defeat the Lady Hilltoppers 13-6 Monday at Lady Devil Diamond.
Solid batting up and down the line-up, with Brittany Depew going 4 for 4 on the evening, was a key, Kara Woods pitched a seven hitter, but had a no hitter going until the 5th when Science Hill broke it open with a home run by Megan Griffith. Lady Devil freshman Chelsey Gardner had a home run in the 3rd inning.
Final line score: Lady Devils had 13 runs on 16 hits, 2 Hilltopper errors, with 6 left on base Lady Hilltoppers had 6 runs on 7 hits, 0 Devil errors with 3 left on base. Kara Woods struck out 13.
Lady Devils are at home Thursday against Morristown West with first pitch at 5:30.
