Erwin and Jonesborough Police are still hoping to do an equipment switch that will mutually benefit both departments.

Erwin Police Chief Regan Tilson tells WEMB that Jonesborough has rifles of a smaller caliber than Erwins, which the EPD needs. Erwin has in its inventory a scooter and a Chevrolet Suburban, neither of which have been in use for some time. The vehicles were confiscated by the EPD in drug raids years ago.

The switch will be finalized at the next Jonesborough Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting March 8.
